POWER FILLED CHRISTIAN LIVING

INTRODUCTION

All the power of God in heaven and in earth belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18). However, there is one thing that separates man and God, and that is sin (Isaiah 59:1-2). Before we can know God’s power in our lives and service, sin must be removed in order to get rid of the separation between God and us. It is Christ’s blood that removes sin (Hebrews 9:26). We must know the power of the blood if we are to know the power of God.    What does the blood of Christ have the power to do?

I.        THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO ATONE FOR OUR SIN!

               ( Romans 3:25; Ephesians 1:3-6; Leviticus 17:11)

The word “atonement” means “to cover.”

II.       THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO SECURE FORGIVENESS FOR OUR SIN!

               (Ephesians 1:7; Psalm 32:1-2; Colossians 2:13)

III.      THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO CLEANSE THE BELIEVER FROM ALL SIN!

               (1 John 1:7; Isaiah 1:18; Romans 8:1, 33).

When cleansing is mentioned in the Bible in connection with the blood, it is always cleansing from guilt.

IV.       THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO JUSTIFY THE BELIEVER! (Romans 3:24-26; 5:9; 8:33)

               Justification means that we are counted as positively righteous.

               2 Corinthians 5:21

V.        THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO CLEANSE THE CONSCIENCE FROM DEAD WORKS TO SERVE THE LIVING GOD! (Hebrews 9:14)

All of our self-efforts to please God and atone for sins are “dead works.” They can never accomplish what they aim at and can never bring peace.

               There are 3 kinds of men:

               1)       Those who love sin and don’t seem to be burdened at all by it.

2)        Those who are burdened by sin and seek to get rid of it by their own works.

3)        Those who saw the hideousness of their own sin and were burdened by it, but who have been brought to see the power of the blood, settling sin forever and putting it away. These serve out of joyous gratitude for what Christ has done.

VI.        THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO REDEEM US. (Acts 20:28; Revelation 5:9; 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20)

 That is, it has the power to purchase us, to make us God’s own property.

A.        That Thought Should Bring Us A Feeling Of Responsibility.

                            If I am His, then I must be surrendered completely to Him! 

B.        That Thought Should Bring Us A Feeling Of Security.

                            God can take care of His own property.

VII.     THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO GIVE THE BELIEVER BOLDNESS TO ENTER INTO THE HOLY PLACE, THE VERY PRESENCE OF GOD. (Hebrews 10:19-20)

As sinners, apart from the blood of Christ, we cannot approach a holy God!

VIII.    THE BLOOD OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO GIVE THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN HIM A RIGHT TO THE TREE OF LIFE AND ENTRANCE INTO THE CITY OF GOD.

               (Genesis 3:22-24; Revelation 7:14; 22:14)

The blood of Christ regains all that Adam lost by sin and brings us much more than was lost.
