POWER FILLED CHRISTIAN LIVING

INTRODUCTION

The poverty and powerlessness of the average Christian can be found in James 4:2. Why do we make such poor progress in our Christian lives, why is there so little fruit in our ministries, why is there so little power in our lives and service? Could it be our neglect of prayer?

I.     PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO BRING US A TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF OURSELVES AND OUR NEEDS!

        (PSALM 139:23-24)

II.    PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO CLEANSE OUR HEARTS FROM SIN!

        (PSALM 51; PSALM 19:12-13)

               A.         From Known Sins. (Psalm 51)

               B.         From Secret Sins. (Psalm 19:12)

III.    PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO HOLD US UP IN OUR GOINGS AND TO GIVE US VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION!

         (PSALM 17:5; LUKE 22:40)

IV.    PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO GOVERN OUR TONGUES!(JAMES 3:8; PSALM 141:3)

V.     PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO BRING US WISDOM!

        (PSALM 25:4; 86:11; 119:33; PSALM 143:10; JAMES 1:5)

VI.    PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO OPEN OUR EYES TO BEHOLD WONDROUS THINGS OUT OF GOD’S WORD!

         (PSALM 119:18)

VII.    PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO BRING THE FULLNESS OF THE SPIRIT’S POWER INTO OUR HEARTS AND LIVES

           AND OUR WORK FOR GOD!

           (EPHESIANS 3:14-19)

VIII.  PRAYER HAS THE POWER TO BRING SALVATION TO OTHERS!

          (ROMANS 10:1; 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-4)

CONCLUSION

There is mighty power in prayer! It has much to do with our obtaining fullness of power in Christian life and service! Whoever will not take time for prayer may as well give up all hope of obtaining the fullness of power God has for him! (Isaiah 40:31-32)

True prayer takes time and thought, but ultimately, it is the great time-saver!

If we are to know the fullness of power, we must be men and women of prayer!
