HOW TO PRAY FOR REVIVAL

WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIALS OF REVIVAL PRAYING?

Jeremiah 29:13-14; 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

I.            CONFESSION. (Isaiah 59:1-2)

A.        There Is No Such Thing As A Sin Too Small To Hinder Prayer.

              B.        Humility Must Precede Confession. (James 4:6-10)

Humility, confession, and repentance are prerequisites for cleansing, forgiveness, and restoration of God’s blessing.

C.        Usually There Is A Need Not Only For Personal Confession, But Also For Corporate Confession.

(Corporate confession refers to a group you are affiliated with such as a Church or nation. See Nehemiah 1:6; Isaiah 6:5; 64:6)

D.        Ask God To Reveal To You Specific Sins To Be Confessed In Each Of The Following Categories:

                            1.          Personal Sins. (Psalm 139:23-24)

                            2.          Sins In Your Home. (Psalm 101:2-5)

  3.          Sins Of God’s People. (Nehemiah 1:6-7; 9:33-35; Daniel 9:5, 6, 10)

                            4.          Sins Of Our Nation. (Isaiah 1:4)

               E.         In Denying Our Sin We Deceive Ourselves.

                            (1 John 1:6-10)

               F.         Covering Sin Withholds The Blessing Of God.

                            (Proverbs 28:13)

               G.         Brokenness Over Sin Brings Us Close To God.

                            (Psalm 34:18)

II.           PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING. (PSALM 100:4)

               A.         Praise Is Worshiping And Adoring God For Who He Is.

Take time daily to worship and adore God for Who He is.

You may wish to praise Him each day for one specific aspect of His character. For example, praise Him for His...

                            Grace

                            Patience

                            Forgiveness

                            Lovingkindness

                            Justice Faithfulness

                            Wisdom

                            Goodness

B.          Thanksgiving Is Expressing Gratitude For What God Has Done.

For example, thank Him for His. . .

                            Salvation

                            Answered Prayer

                            Protection

                            Provision

III.         SUPPLICATION AND INTERCESSION.

               (Matthew 7:7-11; James 4:2)

God has promised to respond to the fervent heartcries of His children.

Intercession carries with it the thought of literally going before God to plead on behalf of another.
