THE BLOOD–PART 1

LEVITICUS 17:11; COLOSSIANS 1:14

Introduction

Every doctor learns to identify blood with life. The blood and life are inseparable: You lose one, you lose both!

The Bible is a living Book and the Bible is a bloody Book. There is an undeniable scarlet thread that runs from cover to cover of this blessed Book. The blood begins to flow in Genesis 3:21 and continues running through the Book of Revelation when blood will flow up to a horse's bridle at the battle of Armageddon. Almost 400 times God inspired men to use the word blood or bloody in the Scriptures.

If you want to identify a false teacher, find out their stand on the blood atonement of Christ.

If they are wrong on the redemption by the blood of Christ, they need to be avoided like the plague!

The writers of the New Testament chose the word "blood" three times as often as the word "cross" of Christ and five times as frequently as "death" when talking about the atonement.

I.         CHRIST’S BLOOD WAS (AND IS) PRECIOUS BLOOD!

1 Peter 1:18-19–"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"

When the Bible calls Jesus blood “precious,” it means it is valuable; costly; of great worth, but it also means it is honored, esteemed, or beloved.

            A.        Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Innocent!

Listen to me, the only thing that Jesus was guilty of was love in the first degree!

Mark 15:13-14–“. . .Crucify him. 14Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.”

The Bible says that three times Pilate proclaimed, “I find no fault in Him.”

Luke 23:41–“And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.”

Luke 23:47–“Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man

2 Corinthians 5:21–“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

1 Peter 2:22–“Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:”

1 John 3:5–“And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”

1 Peter 3:18–“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”

Hebrews 7:26–“For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;”

Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Innocent!

            B.        Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Incorruptible!

In Christ’s veins flowed the perfect, sinless blood from the Heavenly Father through the miracle of the virgin birth.

If God wasn’t His father, then Jesus would have had the same problem each of us have!

Romans 5:12–“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

Satan tried to corrupt Christ’s blood through the temptations in the desert, but Christ resisted those temptations with the Word of God. (“It is written. . .”)

Satan tried to corrupt Christ’s blood through the agonies inflicted from His betrayal and arrest all the way to cross, but Christ resisted those temptations through His personage!

            C.        Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Incomparable!

Think about it–What else is there that has the value of the blood of Christ?

One of the most valuable things mentioned in Scripture is the soul of man:

Matthew 16:26–“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?:”

Nevertheless, I want you to know that the blood of Jesus Christ is more valuable than all the souls that have been born upon the face of the earth! That is because the blood of Christ is ready, willing, and able to save any and all souls that come to Him in repentance and faith!

Listen to me carefully, no matter how rich a person may be in the things of this world, they cannot PAY to get saved! No one can BUY salvation either for themselves or for any of their loved ones.

Psalm 49:6-8–“They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)”

The incomparable blood of Jesus Christ has made the once for all payment for sin!

Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Innocent, Incorruptible, Incomparable...

            D.        Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Illuminating!

2 Corinthians 4:3-4–“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

Colossians 1:13–“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

            E.        Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Invigorating.

What I mean by invigorating is that it is life giving (Text--Leviticus17:11).

Did you know that one speck of blood contains 5,000,000 living red cells; 300,000 platelets and 7,000 white cells. It is an ocean stocked with living matter!

The Blood of Christ is even more invigorating because it reaches down into the very soul and spirit of man and gives him new life–eternal life; everlasting life; resurrection life; Christ’s life!

            F.        Christ’s Blood Is Precious Because It Is Indispensable.

Hebrews 9:22–“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

Hebrews 9:12–“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Do away with the blood of Christ and you do away with any hope of salvation!

CHRIST’S BLOOD WAS (AND IS) PRECIOUS BLOOD!

II.       CHRIST’S BLOOD WAS PURGING BLOOD!

Hebrews 1:3-- "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high."

Hebrews 9:22-- "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."

            The word “purged” means cleansed.

Have you ever been really, really dirty before? I’m talking about physically.

When you are really dirty, nothing can beat being able to wash up and get clean again!

Revelation 1:5-- "…Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood."

Scientifically-- One of the functions of blood is to CLEAN the body:

The components of blood cooperate to accomplish a simple goal: Nourishing and cleansing each living cell.

From the red blood cells first entrance into the bloodstream they are pushed and shoved through rush hour traffic. Beginning the cycle at the heart, they take a short jaunt to the lungs to pick up a heavy load of oxygen. Then they are propelled throughout 60,000 miles of blood vessels linked to every living cell in the body. Highways narrow down to one-lane roads, then bike paths, then footpaths, until finally the red cell must edge through a capillary one-tenth the diameter of a human hair.

In such narrow confines the cells are stripped of food and oxygen and loaded down with carbon dioxide and other waste products. From there the red cells rush to the kidneys and liver for a thorough scrubbing, where the hazardous waste chemicals can be dumped for elimination outside the body.

Then they go back to the lungs for a refill of oxygen and the journey starts over. The complete cycle takes only 23 seconds. An average red cell endures the cycle of loading, unloading, and jostling through the body for a half million round trips over four months.

How marvelous it is the system that God uses to cleanse our bodies through the blood!

But it is much more marvelous how that God uses the blood of Christ to do a deep cleaning of the inner man!

We all came into this world contaminated with the toxin of SIN!

Sin is a blockage, a paralyzing toxin that restricts and hinders our lives from counting for God!

Isaiah 59:2–“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

Jeremiah 5:25–“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.”

Hebrews 9:14-- "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

“There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel’s veins,

And sinners plunged beneath that flood loose all their guilty stains.” AMEN!!!

            “What can wash away my sins, Nothing but the blood of Jesus;

What can make me whole again, nothing but the blood of Jesus

            O precious is the flow, that washes white as snow;

No other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.” AMEN!!!

“Jesus, keep me near the cross, There a precious fountain

free to all–a healing stream, Flows from Calvary’s mountain.

In the cross, In the cross, Be my glory ever!” AMEN!!!

“Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?

There is power in the blood, power in the blood!

            Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow;

There is wonderful power in the blood! AMEN!!!

“Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you washed in the blood, in the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?

Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?”

ONLY THE BLOOD of Jesus Christ can cleanse from sin!

1 John 1:7-- "… the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

What color is blood? Red. What color is sin? According to Isaiah 1:18– RED.

Isaiah 1:18–"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool"

I read, according to photography, that if you take a red filter and look at something red through the red filter, it will appear to be white!

That’s what Jesus did for us Amen!

Conclusion
