SOUNDING THE TRUMPET

Introduction

In our first message on this subject we looked at “The Danger Of The Trumpet Not Being Sounded.” We looked at:

WHY THE TRUMPET MIGHT NOT BE SOUNDED.

All which dealt with watchmen not doing their job for whatever reason.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE TRUMPET IS NOT SOUNDED. (Ezekiel 33:6)

A.        The People Who Need Warning Are Not Warned!

            1.         Lost Sinners Are Not Warned To Flee From The Wrath To Come!

            2.         Saved Sinners Are Not Directed To Live For The Lord!

B.        The People Who Need Warning Die In Their Iniquity!

C.        The Watchman Bears Responsibility Before God!

In our second message we looked at “The Danger Of The Wrong Message Being Sounded.”

MANY WRONG MESSAGES ARE BEING SOUNDED TO THE LOST AND TO THE SAINTS.

Both from the world and from false teachers.

THE DANGERS OF FALSE TEACHING.

A.        Salvation Depends On Sound Doctrine!

B.        Right Living Depends On Right Doctrine! 

Tonight, in the final installment of this series, I want us to look at some certain sounds that need to be sounded in our times. Uncertainty never won a battle. People need to hear a clear, convincing, and certain sound! What are some of these sounds?

I.         THERE IS BUT ONE TRUE AND LIVING GOD–HE IS THE CREATOR AND SUSTAINER OF THE UNIVERSE, HE IS SOVEREIGN, AND HE IS STILL ON HIS THRONE! (1 Corinthians 8:4-7a)

Some folks (including some who call themselves Christians) live their lives as if there is no God.

            Psalms 14:1–“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. . .”

            Sometimes folks think and act as if God were dead or anemic.

Psalms 10:4–“The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.”

            God cannot be impeached, voted out, filibustered, or banished to the bench.

            He is the Sovereign of the universe to whom every person will give account one day!

1 Timothy 1:17–“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

II.       THE BIBLE IS THE TRUE AND LIVING WORD OF THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD!

2 Timothy 3:16–“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. . .”

            John 17:17–“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

Psalms 12:6–“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

Some folks treat the Bible like it is just another great book among the books of religious literature.

                        The Koran – Islam

                        The Veda – Hinduism

                        The Works of Confucius

            There is a problem with doing that though! The other books are just religious books.

            However, the Bible is the Word of God! It is a living book and a powerful book!

Hebrews 4:12–“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

We need now more than ever to be people of the Book!

III.      JESUS CHRIST IS THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD WHO WAS MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH, WHO DIED FOR THE SIN OF ALL MANKIND, WHO IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE, WHO IS COMING AGAIN SOME DAY SOON!

            Some folks treat Jesus like he is just another famous religious figure in human history:

                        Abraham, Moses

                        Mohammed

                        Gandhi

                        Confucius

                        Buddha

                        Dalai Lama

But there are some things that set Jesus Christ apart from any person that has ever lived or ever will live on the face of this earth.

            A.        Jesus Christ Is God!

John 1:1-3–“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

            B.        Jesus Christ Is Saviour!

1 Corinthians 15:3-4–“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:”

            C.        Jesus Christ Is Alive!

Revelation 1:18–“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

            D.        Jesus Christ Is Coming Again!

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17–“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

IV.      THERE IS A JUDGMENT DAY COMING FOR ALL!

            That should be a sobering thought for all. But is it?

            Some mock at the very idea of judgment. But judgment is coming!

            A.        The Great White Throne. (Revelation 20:11-15)

            B.        The Judgment Seat Of Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)

V.        THERE IS A HELL TO SHUN AND A HEAVEN TO GAIN!

            A.        There Is A Hell To Shun. (Mark 9:43-48)

                        Folks joke about hell, but hell is no joke.

                        Luke 16:19-31

            B.        There Is A Heaven To Gain. (John 14:1-3) 

Conclusion

In these uncertain times where good is made to look evil and evil is proclaimed as good, may we be the watchmen that God wants us to be and sound these clear and certain sounds for all to hear!
