JOHN 3:18-36
NOTE: THIS SERMON IS PREACHED WITH A BLANK WHITEBOARD OR A BLANK PIECE OF POSTER BOARD AS A PROP. IT WILL CONTAIN "NOTHING" ON IT. THIS WORKS WELL TO GET THE KIDS INVOLVED AND GET THEM TO LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ON THE BOARD. OF COURSE THERE IS NONE!
I. IT CONTAINS ALL A PERSON MUST DO IN ORDER TO GO TO BE CONDEMNED.
(John 3:18; 36)
Romans 5:12–“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
John 3:3, 7
A. What Should This Message Mean To The Unsaved?
It is a message of the urgency of salvation.
B. What Should This Message Mean To The Saved?
It is a message of the urgency of soul-winning.
II. IT CONTAINS ALL THE WRONG THINGS THAT JESUS DID.
A. Jews Examined Jesus.
John 8:46–“Which of you convinceth me of sin?”
B. Pilate Examined Jesus.
John 18:38–“I find in him no fault at all.”
John 19:4–“Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.”
John 19:6–“Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.”
C. Disciples Examined Jesus.
1 Peter 2:22–“Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:” (guile=trickery)
1 John 3:5–“And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”
D. God Examined Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:21–“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
III. IT CONTAINS ALL A PERSON CAN DO TO GET TO HEAVEN APART FROM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. (John 3:36)
John 14:6–“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. . .”
Acts 4:12–“Neither is there salvation in any other. . .”
Titus 3:5–“Not by works of righteousness which we have done. . .”
IV. IT CONTAINS ALL THE WAYS YOU CAN PLEASE GOD APART FROM FAITH. (Hebrews 11:6)
Faith is taking God at His Word.
Faith is believing what God has said.
Faith is trusting in what God has said.
Example–This chair will hold you up, come place your trust in it.
A. To Please God We Must Have Faith For Salvation.
1. Ephesians 2:8-9--“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
2. John 3:14-16; 36
3. John 6:28–“Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
B. To Please God We Must Have Faith After Salvation.
1. Colossians 2:6–“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
2. Romans 1:17–“the just shall live by faith.”
CONCLUSION
Have you placed your faith and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation?
Forsaking All I Trust Him.
If you do nothing at all, you stand condemned right now.
The Wrath of God abides on you.
Jesus was the perfect, sinless, Son of God who died in our place.
No one else can save. Nothing else can save.
To please God you must place your faith and trust in Jesus.
