LESSON 10

PRESENTING A PLAN FOR SALVATION

1 Corinthians 14:40– “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

As the Word of God is revealed to the individual, it is important to have an organized, directed plan of presenting the Gospel clearly and confidently. Although there are numerous portions of Scripture that can be used to lead someone to Christ, it is wise that the Soulwinner become familiar with certain portions, which reveals God’s entire salvation plan, so that they may regularly use this path to lead individuals to Christ.

The use of a PLAN enables the Soul-winner to memorize Scripture, locate and highlight verses in their New Testament, it instills confidence and certainty, and begins to produce boldness as a by-product of knowledge and confidence.

Memorization and familiarity are essential to the PLAN. The Soul-winner must know where he is going before he can “lead” others to the salvation destination.

The following is an outline of the Proclaimer’s Plan.

“THE PROCLAIMERS”

MARCHING DOWN THE ROMAN’S ROAD

1.         They Must Realize That They Are A Sinner!

            Scripture Reference:   Romans 3:10

                                                Romans 3:23

(Be kind and personable, but explain confidently and clearly that God’s Word identifies the wrong things we do as Sin – We are all sinners.)

2.         They Must Realize That There Is A Price Or Penalty For Sin!

            Scripture Reference:   Romans 6:23

(Read the entire verse. Place emphasis on and repeat for a second time the first portion,

“For the wages of sin is death;. . .”)

Explain–Wages and the two types of death the Bible relates. (i.e. Physical and spiritual –

            Revelation 20:14)

3.         They Must Realize The PENALTY HAS BEEN PAID!

            Scripture Reference:   Romans 5:8

Romans 5:8 provides an excellent opportunity to present the Gospel (i.e. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.) This should be a brief, yet thorough explanation of Jesus’ payment for our sin debt followed by a question to determine if the person believes this actually happened.

A second point to proceed with is the fact that Jesus also purchased for us, as a gift, eternal life. (Romans 6:23b)

After these issues are presented and understood, it might be a good time for a brief review of point 1 and point 2.

4.         They Must Receive The Gift Of God–Eternal Life.

            Scripture Reference:   Romans 10:9-10

Clearly read through Romans 10:9-10. Briefly explain by illustration the word “believe.”

(A clear understanding that God only requires belief on or trusting on Jesus Christ for salvation is essential at this point.) After this is understood, encourage the person to call upon Christ. (Romans 10:13)
