LESSON 11
A DETAILED PLAN FOR SALVATION
Isaiah 28:10– “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.”
Below is a detailed presentation of the Proclaimer’s Plan.
In order to maintain the integrity of the plan, it should be adhered to strictly. A PLAN enables us to know what to do and where to go, therefore, it is not actually bondage but freedom that is given by the mastery of the PLAN.
PROCLAIMER’S PLAN
The first thing God wants us to realize is found in Romans 3:10. (Read verse 2 times.)
Mrs. Monroe, the word righteous simply means perfect. God’s Word is telling us that none
of us are perfect. The reason we are not perfect is found a few verses later over in
Romans 3:23. (Read verse 2 times). We have all sinned and are therefore not perfect.
Mrs. Monroe, there are many differences between all of us but the Bible shows us
that we are all alike in one area. We all sin. We have all done wrong in thought, word, or
deed.
The second thing God wants us to realize is that there is a penalty for the sin we
commit. Romans 6:23 states (read the verse entirely once and the first part a second time.)
Mrs. Monroe, our wages or earnings for our sin is death. The Bible speaks of 2
different types of death. There are 2 parts of you, Mrs. Monroe. The physical part which
I can see–that part is going to die, but there is a spiritual part of you called your Soul that
is going to live forever in one of 2 places – forever with God in Heaven or forever separated
from him in a place the Bible calls hell. The word “death” in this verse means “separated”
so if you and I get what we deserve or have earned, we should go to hell and be separated
from God.
Mrs. Monroe, let me quickly show you the third point God wants us to realize.
This is found in Romans 5:8 (Read verse 2 times). The word “commended” simply means
“showed.” God showed or demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus Christ to die on
the cross in order to pay our sin debt.
Jesus, the perfect, sinless, Son of God paid our sin penalty when He died on the
cross, He then was buried and after about 72 hours, the Bible tells us that women came to
anoint the body, but the tomb or grave was empty. He had risen again in victory over
SIN and DEATH.
Mrs. Monroe, do you believe the Bible account of Jesus’ death, burial and
resurrection. (Any positive agreement of belief is acceptable: i.e. Nod of the head, verbal
agreement, etc.)
Jesus not only paid our sin debt, but He also purchased for us the gift of eternal life.
(Read Romans 6:23b again.)
(USE THE GIFT ILLUSTRATION)
The Bible actually tells us that eternal life or Heaven was purchased for us as a gift
by Jesus Christ. We can NOT earn it, achieve it or pay for it because it is a gift. Christ
purchased it for us by His death, burial and resurrection.
Let me quickly review:
1. We are all sinners.
2. We as sinners deserve or have earned as wages the penalty of Hell.
3. Jesus Christ came to pay our sin debt and purchase eternal life for us by His.
death, burial, and resurrection.
The fourth and final thing God wants us to realize is how to receive the gift of
eternal life. This is found in Romans 10:9-10 (read verses clearly and confidently).
Mrs. Monroe, the word believe and believeth is found in these verses, let’s consider
what this would actually mean (USE THE CHAIRS ILLUSTRATION). God’s Word
clearly tells us that in order to receive the gift of eternal life or Heaven one must trust on
Jesus Christ, put their faith or belief on Him and Him only.
GIFTS
Mrs. Monroe, if I took this pen and said to you. “This is a gift from my Church to you – but in order to have it you must pay me $1.00.” Would that be a GIFT? NO, it would not because you would be paying for it and you don’t pay for a gift (that someone is giving to you).
Mrs. Monroe, how about if I said, “This pen is a gift from my Church to you – but in order to receive it you need to go and get me a glass of water.” Would that be a GIFTt? NO, you would be working in order to earn it – and a gift is not something you work for. A gift is given to you simply because someone cares about you.
The word gift in Romans 6:23 actually means “NO STRINGS ATTACHED.”
The gift of eternal life is absolutely free for you.
CHAIR
Mrs. Monroe, a few minutes ago when I came into this room, I was actually believing in or depending on my own ability to stand. I was trusting my strength completely.
But, when you allowed me to sit down, I transferred by belief or faith from my own ability over to the chair’s ability to hold me up.
I am no longer depending on my strength because I am fully trusting this chairs.
This is an illustration of what the Bible is teaching us in Romans 10:9-10.
